121 ft Lord Buddha

The world’s largest statue (at 118 feet) of the Buddhist Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, the patron saint of Sikkim, is on the Samdruptse hill (The Wish Fulfilling hill) opposite Namchi. It was completed in February 2004.

At a distance of 7 KM from Namchi Market at Samdruptse hill top the 45 meter high status of Guru Padmasambhava is there. This status was first conceptualized and visualized by Shri Pawan Chamling Ex Chief Minister of Sikkim. The foundation stone was laid by his holiness the Dalai Lama on 22nd October 1997. His eminence Kyabje Dudrupchen Rinpoche supervised the religious aspects and the performed the Rabnay ( construction ) ceremony. Shri Pawan Chamling unveiled the holy statue on 18th February 2004.
